Last year, faced with the daunting task of finding a whole new breastfeeding friendly wardrobe, I took to the internet to see if there were any articles that had already done their research for me on the best breastfeeding friendly dresses out there.

With a demanding four month old, I didn’t have the time to sit and scroll ASOS, zooming in on photos of blurry buttons to try and ascertain whether they were real or not (they’re almost always fake). Sadly, my search was fruitless and with limited time, I found it oddly difficult to put together a summer wardrobe that included breastfeeding friendly dresses.

It was just another chore on a long list of other chores to complete.

Still nervous to feed in public, I was eager to find pretty nursing clothing for breastfeeding that would still give me a level of privacy when breastfeeding Olive. Unexpectedly, I found breastfeeding in the summer months more difficult than winter due to the style of summer dresses. Rather than lifting up a jumper and pulling down a feeding top, it sometimes felt like I was revealing my bosoms (and lingering bump) to the world when a flimsy piece of my summer dress flapped open.

Now 14-months into my breastfeeding journey and a lot more confident in what makes for the best nursing dress, I thought I’d put together a bumper post on my favourite dresses for 2022. As we head into sunnier days, a few everyday summer dresses for breastfeeding are an essential. Easy to throw on and forgiving around the tummy, I found just three summer breast feeding dresses last year that I virtually lived in. Breastfeeding Friendly Dresses for Weddings or Special Occasions

With the summer season comes the inevitable wedding season, and the wonderful stress of needing to find a more formal, yet nursing friendly wedding guest dress. I had two stressful weeks last year, trying to find a breast feeding dress for a wedding, while still feeding my baby 6-7 times a day. Eager not to buy a dress that was specifically designed for breastfeeding (I find them all a little frumpy), my mission to find something that felt like ‘me’, yet easy to feed in was a fraught one.
